Privacy policy
Last updated 13 August 2026. This policy explains how LinkTag uses personal data on LinkTag.co.uk and on business LinkTag pages.
Controller for the LinkTag website and our own customer records: LinkTag, Hampshire, United Kingdom. Email hello@linktag.co.uk.
If you use a business’s LinkTag page (for example to view a menu or place an order), that business is usually the controller for the information you give them. We process it on their behalf to run the page.
1. Data we collect
- Orders and accounts: business name, email, phone if you give it, town, business type, plan, add-ons, payment references from Stripe. We do not store full card numbers.
- Page content: details a business owner submits on their owner form or in admin.
- Essential technical data: what we need for the site to work, including your privacy choice and security (for example CSRF tokens). We do not store full IP addresses for behavioural profiling.
- Analytics (optional): after you accept analytics, a random visitor ID, pages viewed, clicks, scroll milestones, device category, browser, operating system, referrer and UTM tags. We do not use fingerprinting.
- Customer profiles (optional): only where a business has profiling enabled and you have given a suitable permission, or you identify yourself (order, booking, loyalty).
- Privacy requests: the information needed to find and verify your record.
2. Why we use it
- To take and fulfil orders and provide the dashboard (contract).
- To run the website and keep it secure (legitimate interests / legal obligation).
- Analytics, personalisation and marketing only with consent where required, or another valid basis a business has configured.
- To meet UK GDPR, PECR, accounting and tax duties.
3. Cookies and similar storage
We use essential storage so the site works and so we can remember your privacy choice. Analytics, personalisation and marketing storage are not set until you accept them (or a lawful exception applies). You can change your mind at any time via Privacy settings in the footer or Privacy / My data.
Business owners can configure their own consent banner, but they cannot silently turn on non-essential tracking before consent.
4. Sharing
We share data with:
- Stripe, to take payment.
- Hosting and email providers that run this website.
- The business whose page you used, for their orders, bookings or loyalty — not with other businesses.
We do not sell your data. We do not send customer data to external AI services unless a business explicitly configures that and it is permitted.
5. How long we keep it
Order and accounting records are kept as long as tax and company law require. Anonymous analytics default to 12 months. Detailed customer activity defaults to 12 months. Consent records are kept long enough to show what you chose. Business owners can set 3, 6, 12, 24 months or a custom period. A scheduled cleanup then removes or anonymises expired analytics and profile data.
6. Your rights
You can ask for access, a copy, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or to withdraw consent. Use Privacy / My data, or email hello@linktag.co.uk. We may need to verify it is you. Some transaction records cannot be fully deleted and will be anonymised instead.
You can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
7. Children
LinkTag is aimed at businesses, not at children. We do not knowingly set up marketing profiles for under-18s.
8. Changes
We will update this page when our practices change. The date at the top is the latest version.
